Pinot Grigio & Gris Seated Tasting

Tuesday, August 13: 6:30-8:30

Join us for a Bosu's Signature Event!

Pinot Grigio represents a conundrum. On the one hand wine drinkers are enthralled,

propelling sales skyward all over the world. Simultaneously collectors and wine experts

are less impressed citing it as a wine "of little interest and personality."

However, many wine enthusiasts do agree on one thing. Pinot Grigio and Pinot Gris are

zesty white wines that are as refreshing as a cold glass of lemonade on a hot summer’s day.

What’s the Difference Between Pinot Grigio and Pinot Gris?

These terms are often used interchangeably. Pinot Grigio and Pinot Gris are in fact

the same grape variety, though Pinot Grigio is the Italian designation

while Pinot Gris is the French designation. Hence, the two names

have come to infer two different styles of wine.

Today Pinot Grigio/Gris grapes are planted around the globe in almost every wine-growing region. For the most part these countries are making the more fashionable Pinot Grigio style, which is typically easy-drinking and destined for early consumption. That said, there are also regions that focus more on the Pinot Gris style, such as Oregon, and parts of New Zealand.

Italian Pinot Grigios are always about freshness, with graceful and refined dry,

mineral flavors. Pinot Gris is famous for its refreshing citrus flavor and zesty acidity.

Terroir, across the board in both wines, is another bonus all together.

That depends on a variety of factors including harvest time and styles of vinification.

No matter your personal opinion of Pinot Grigio or Gris, our tasting line up

is stacked with wines designed to change your mind. Pinot Grigios and Gris of all origins

are the type of food-friendly wine that Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay can only

dream of being. Join us; you may just discover your new favorite!
